AJ, also known as The Mom Who Could, is our Founder and Head Writer. Adopted and raised in Benton Harbor, MI, AJ did not grow up with creative or many positive influences. She's no stranger to hardship, and after overcoming homelessness with her children in 2013, AJ created a non-profit organization, The Christian Family Network, to help single mothers transition from homeless shelters into their own homes.
AJ believes that one's good and bad life experiences and even testimonies are gifts to the world and need to be shared so that others can draw hope from those experiences. Creative writing became an emotional outlet for AJ at the age of 13. Since then she's created short fiction blogs and has helped others do the same.
AJ received her Associate of Arts degree from Wayne County Community College District in Detroit. She is also the copy editor for Metro Detroit-based media publication, Advance Magazine which has featured artists and creatives such as Kierra Sheard, Tabitha Brown, Yung BBQ, Deborah Joy Winans, and Monique Rodriguez of Mielle Organics.
